Getting started

Do I need to install anything?
No. FeedLab runs entirely in your web browser. There is nothing to install or configure. Sign up, log in, and start uploading files.
What kind of assessments does FeedLab work with?
FeedLab works with any written assessment that is marked and recorded in an Excel spreadsheet — end-of-unit tests, mock papers, past papers, or teacher-designed assessments. It is used across GCSE and A-Level subjects including Science, Maths, English, History, and Geography.
Is there a limit on how many students I can process?
No hard limit. FeedLab has been tested with files containing up to 200 students. If you run a very large assessment, processing may take a few seconds longer.

Files and data

What spreadsheet formats are supported?
FeedLab accepts .xlsx, .xls, and .xlsm files. Most layouts work automatically — student names in column one, question scores in subsequent columns. See the File Formats page for full details.
Does FeedLab store student data?
No. All file processing happens locally in your browser. Student names, scores, and assessment data are never transmitted to or stored on FeedLab servers. Only your account information (email, name, school) is stored, for login purposes.
Do I need to use your templates?
No, but they make setup faster. You can upload most standard data sheet layouts directly. If your file is not detected correctly, switching to one of our templates will always work.

Reports and feedback

How does the personalised feedback work?
You write one or more "What Went Well" and "Even Better If" statements per question. FeedLab assigns them to students based on whether they scored above or below the threshold you set. Statements are randomised within each band, so students in the same class get varied but appropriate feedback.
Can I edit the reports after generating them?
Reports are generated as PDF pages ready for printing. If you want to adjust statements, update them in the generator and re-export. It takes seconds.
Can I export reports for individual classes in a mixed-class file?
Yes. If your spreadsheet includes a class column, FeedLab will group students automatically. You can then export all classes at once or filter to a single class.

Account and billing

How long is the free trial?
Fourteen days, with no credit card required. You have full access to all features during the trial period.
What happens when my trial ends?
You will receive a reminder before the trial ends. After expiry, you can still log in but will need an active subscription to generate new reports. Your settings and history are preserved.
Are there plans for departments and schools?
Yes — Department and School & MAT plans are coming soon. If you would like to be notified when they launch, use the "Get notified" button on the Pricing page.
